Meet Joe
Joe Powers is a dedicated servant leader.
A father of two, husband of nineteen years and follower of Jesus Christ since age eleven, Joe and his wife Jamie, sons Landon and Asher live in Dublin, GA and are members of Pine Forest Methodist Church.Born in Toccoa, Joe’s sense of community and inclusion run deep like the cool mountain waters of his native Appalachia. Raised by an outside salesman and waitress, it’s clear to see where Joe’s sense of service comes from. Conversations about the needs of others, literally around kitchen tables, began at age six for Joe with his first sales job. Personal growth and sense of achievement for Joe has always come from helping others, listening to what they need and offering solutions through service. These core values have motivated Joe’s every choice from youth to present day. “Achievement comes when we lean into our God given gifts. All we need to be happy and fulfilled in life with this sense of self and service.” Commitment has been clear in every phase of Joe’s life. He never missed a day of school through 6th grade. He was chosen by classmates as a “Born Leader” in high school. Joe earned scholarships to play football and baseball in college. As a freshman in college, a new collection of people from across cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds chose him to lead again as class president of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, Omicron Theta chapter. A Broadcaster of the year award from Piedmont College; professional recognitions like Associated Press news award nominations, DuPont Awards for wartime news coverage while with CNN, national accreditation while working in EMS; Joe even became a certified public safety clown during his public service career before receiving a volunteer of the year award from the American Red Cross in Dublin. Joe’s professional career turned in middle Georgia from public service to his mass communications education. Starting with nearly 4 years of service to 13WMAZ, Joe moved quickly from media sales to on-air positions with Y96 hosting the Classic Country Jukebox, co-hosting the morning show, and covering high school sports where Joe became recognizable as “The Voice of the Irish”. Quickly Joe’s blended skillset and track record of community involvement, media production and leadership in sales brought General Sales Manager roles with 41NBC in Macon, GM/GSM roles with FOX54 in Columbus, GA, before becoming the market leader for Cox Media in Georgia. Currently Joe operates his own streaming radio station and full-service marketing agency and works full time with Renewal By Andersen
